The prefecture emblem and the flag were adopted on Oct 1st 1977 by
Announcement No 295. The green flag has a white prefecture emblem in the center.
The flag represents an image of the prefecture which continues to improve and
grow in blessed nature. The flag proportion is 2:3 and the height of the emblem

Before the current prefectural flag, another flag was in semiofficial use
for some time (c. 1975-1977?). Flagmaster reported it in blue but Nozomi
Kariyasu has the information and flag was in fact green (seems to be a shade
of green olive medium).
